Alison Wedding is the featured vocalist. Taking on the role of a horn-player, she brings life to the melodies, and makes use of her scatting talents. Frank Di Sario (bass) and Danny Fischer (drums) complete this highly skilled line-up.

The album covers a lot of musical ground; from the funky hit-song “Beatnick”, through the angular, swinging “Pinky’s tune” to “Old Lady By The Sea”: a vocal/piano duet with an Irish folk-ballad feel to it. Influences from 20th century orchestral music (Ravel and Debussy are two of Darrin’s favourite composers) can also be heard in pieces such as “Night Song” and “Trio One”.

Darrin Archer studied composition at Latrobe University, and piano with Mike Nock and Judy Bailey at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has worked with some of Australia’s best jazz artists, and is known and well respected as a composer and pianist in Melbourne and Sydney. He was awarded The Jazz Action Society’s 1st prize for composition in 1996.
